This Sunday, February 14 is the 10th Annual ConocoPhillips Winter Carnival, a fun hour-and-a-half filled with ski games and a scavenger hunt.  The event, hosted by the NSCF-FXC Comp and Prep Teams is held in conjunction with the regular Junior Nordics session on Sunday, with a bonus half hour (from 2 to 3:30 PM) to fit in all the fun!

Skiers in who come to Junior Nordics on another day of the week are welcome to join on Sunday as well.  In addition, Interior skiers age 4 to 13 that are not currently signed-up for Junior Nordics are welcome to join as well (parents of these skiers should arrive at 1:45 to fill out a waiver for the event in the Birch Hill Cross Country Ski Center, and to find where to send their skiers for the start of the event).

The Comp and Prep Teams look forward to sharing their passion for the sport with Fairbanks’ youth skiers!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!  I hope all of you are thankful for the best early season skiing (and weather) in many years, and are eating enough to have sufficient fuel in the tank for tomorrow's Alaska Coffee Roasting Company Turkey Day Relays.  Prizes will be provided by Beaver Sports.  Don't forget to attend the Lathrop High School Ski Team Spaghetti Feed, silent auction and Awards Ceremony at the Lathrop HS cafeteria Friday evening.

Snow is on the way, and so is Fast and Female!  This November 1st girls aged 8-18 are invited to join Kikkan Randall and Becca Rorabaugh for an afternoon of fun.  The multi-sport event runs noon to 3pm and skis are optional— so bring all your friends!  Signup is available online at www.fastandfemale.com, and day-of.  The $25 registration fee gets you time with awesome local athletes in sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball, hockey, and skiing… as well as a t-shirt and signed autograph poster.  Join us for sports activities, yoga, healthy snacks, pink glitter, and a super inspirational afternoon!

 Fall 2015 Adult Lessons Registration Form

You can earn donations from Fred Meyer’s to the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks just by shopping at Fred Meyer’s with your Rewards Card. Fred Meyer will donate $2.5 million to nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington annually through this program.

Here's how it works:

Link your Rewards Card to Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks at Fred Meyer’s Community Rewards Page (online at fredmeyers.com).

  • Whenever you use your Rewards card when shopping at Freddy's, you’ll be helping the nonprofit linked to your Rewards Card earn a donation from Fred Meyer. At the end of each quarter, Fred Meyer will make a donation to participating nonprofits based on the accumulated spending of the Rewards customers linked to each nonprofit. Fred Meyer will donate $625,000 each quarter via Community Rewards!

Do I still get Rewards Points, Fuel Points and Rebates?

  • YES! Rewards Customers still get the Rewards Points, Fuel Points and Rebates – the money donated to the NSCF is on top of your own rewards.

Why is Fred Meyer moving to Community Rewards?

  • For years, the decision about which organizations Fred Meyer supported rested with a small group of employees. It wasn't transparent, nor was it necessarily the best thing for our communities. Now you can tell us where to donate our money! You can link your Rewards Cards to the nonprofit you believe is doing the most good in your community, and we'll direct donations to those organizations.

If a large number of Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks members and supporters sign up for this program, the Nordic Ski Club could be the recipient of a few to several thousand dollars each year – dollars that go toward the programs that the Nordic Ski Club conducts, including our unparalleled trails/grooming program, on which the club spends about $100,000 per year.  Help out the club and help sustain our great trails.  Sign up now!

To the membership:

We are in the process of having our online forms tested by our online payment services provider.  To do that, we have placed links to NON-FUNCTIONAL forms on our website.  Even though the forms are non-functional the necessary evaluation can still take place.  Please do not attempt to use these forms, as you will not be successful.

The forms to which there are live links from this website are:

    * Membership
    * Trail Fund Donations
    * Junior Nordic Registration

We hope to have these forms up and available to the membership as soon as possible.  However, there are many unanticipated bends and turns along the route to functionality.

Thank you,

John Estle, Administrator

Dear NSCF Members,
It is time to renew your membership . . . however, we are still working on getting a new online membership form up and running.  We hope it will be complete by the weekend. So, please be patient for a few more days, and we'll be ready for you.  In the meantime, SKI!
