Runners of all ages can show off their fancy footwork at the Seekins Ford Golden Heart Trail Run on Saturday, August 20, at Birch Hill Recreation Area.

The Seekins Ford Golden Heart Trail Run, sponsored by Running Club North and the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks, is the only summer running race regularly held at Birch Hill and the only race of the Usibelli Cup Series held solely on trails. If that weren’t incentive enough, race organizers dot the course with hay bales that runners can hurdle over or run around. The run is great for runners of all ages and for cross country skiers who typically race Birch Hill trails only when covered in snow. The event includes prizes for top two overall male and female, T-shirts and prize drawings, and youth participation awards.

The Seekins Ford Golden Heart Trail Run also serves as a fundraiser for NSCF-FXC, the junior race-training program of the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks.

Three races, one each for different age brackets, will be held on the day of the run:

  • 10:00 am: 1 kilometer for ages 7 and under
  • 10:15 am: 2.5 kilometers for ages 8-14
  • 10:45 am: 5 kilometers for ages 15 and older
