This month please consider donating to the club’s Trails Fund. By doing so you give yourself and many others the gift of wonderfully groomed trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area. (If you’ve already donated generously, thank you very much!)
THE SKI CLUB DOES THE GROOMING
Some people are under the impression that the Fairbanks borough pays for trail grooming, but the ski club pays for ALL trail grooming. (The borough does provide our great buildings and other services, such as parking lot plowing.)
GROOMING IS NOT FREE.
The club relies on donations to pay for trail grooming. Our ski season is weeks to months longer than most places Outside. The annual cost of the trail program is about $100,000 a year. This includes: labor, fuel, and equipment maintenance and replacement. Despite many generous people, donations to the Ski Club trail fund have not been sufficient. The club NEEDS your donations to continue grooming.
HOW MUCH TO GIVE?
Below are recommended amounts based on what most people pay at commercial and club trail operations in the Lower 48 and Canada. Most of their ski seasons are one-half to two-thirds the length of a typical Fairbanks season.
