The KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series is comprised of four events open to all ages of skiers. Each event features races at increasing distances for several different age/gender groups: Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, Grades 7-8, High School/Adult Women, and High School/Adult Men. Elementary, junior high, and high school competitors must enter through their school programs or coaches. There is no entry fee for student competitors. Adult entry fee is $10 for NSCF members, due by Wednesday at 5:00 pm preceding the race. No late entries.

  • TRS #1 NOVEMBER 19, 2016 (classic technique mass start) presented by Fairbanks Youth Sports
  • TRS #2 DECEMBER 3. 2016 (classic technique sprint) presented by Fairbanks Youth Sports
  • TRS #3 JANUARY 14, 2017 (free technique interval start) presented by Woolly Rhino
  • TRS #4 JANUARY 28, 2017 (free technique ski cross) presented by Kendall Subaru of Fairbanks

All races are held at Birch Hill Cross-Country Ski Center

Below are results from the 21st Annual KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series #4, the Kendall Subaru of Fairbanks Ski-Cross.  One hundred fifty-four skiers competed in heats over jumps, around slalom gates and under "limbo" gates.  All skiers raced in preliminary heats, then advanced to final heats depending upon their results in the preliminary race.  The race was held on perfect snow with temperatures in the high teens to low 20's.

Start times for each bracket:

  • High School and Adult "A" Men & Women - 11:00
  • High School and Adult "A" Men & Women - 11:42
  • Grade 7 and 8 Boys & Girls - 12:33
  • Grade 5 and 6 Boys & Girls - 12:57
  • Grade 3 and 4 Boys & Girls - 13:15
  • Grade K, 1 and 2 Boys & Girls - 13:39
All skiers will race twice: once in a preliminary round and once in a final round.
Bibs will be available for pickup at about 9:45AM at Rikke's Roadhouse.

Below are results in text format for the 21st Annual Kinross Ft Knox Town Series Race #3, the Woolly Rhino Classic, held Saturday, January 14, 2017.  The races were held under very snowy and breezy conditions with temperatures in the mid single digits above zero.  More than 130 skiers started in the 10 start waves, competing over distances from 1.5Km to 10Km.  The overall winners for high school and adult women and men were Jenna DiFolco of West Valley HS, and Lathrop High School's Logan Mowry.

The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks is pleased to announce the fourth race in the 21st Annual KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series, the  Kendall Subaru of Fairbanks Ski-Cross, will be held Saturday, January 28, at 11:00am at the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area.  The KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series provides a competitive forum for skiers of all ages beginning with pre-schoolers.  Over 200 entries are anticipated.

  • 11:05 - K-1-2 Boys 1.5Km
  • 11:20 - Gr 3-4 Girls 2Km
  • 11:25 - Gr 3-4 Boys 2Km
  • 11:40 - Gr 5-6 Girls 2.5Km
  • 11:45 - Gr 5-6 Boys 2.5Km
  • 12:00 - Gr 7-8 Girls 3Km
  • 12:05 - Gr 7-8 Boys 3Km
  • 12:30 - HS/Adult Women 7.5Km
  • 13:15 - HS/Adult Men 10Km

All races are in mass start format in classic technique

We are expecting substantial snow overnight and during the day on Saturday.  It is possible that the Birch Hill access road and parking lot will not have been plowed in time for the race, so please drive, and park, carefully.
