The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks' Twentieth Annual KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series continues with the Fairbanks Youth Sports Sprint Festival, Saturday, December 5, at 11:00am at the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area.  The KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series provides a competitive forum for skiers of all ages beginning with pre-schoolers.  Over 150 entries are anticipated.  All races will be held in free technique.

These start times are approximate. As now planned, there will be 74 heats, so we may get a little ahead of schedule or fall a little behind schedule – so be sure to arrive plenty early for your age group; and plan to stay a little later than the scheduled end-time for your group.  If we have a smaller than expected turnout in some classes the number of preliminary and final heats will be reduced and the schedule will be accelerated.

Here’s the plan:

  • High School and Adult Women and Men - 11:00 - 12:25 (B Bracket will go first, then A Bracket)
  • Junior High Girls and Boys - 12:20-13:05
  • 15 minute break for volunteers
  • Grade 5-6 Girls and Boys - 13:20-13:40
  • Grade 3-4 Girls and Boys - 13:40-14:00
  • Grade K-1-2 Girls and Boys - 14:00-14:25

The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks is pleased to announce that the Twentieth Annual KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series will get underway with the classic technique Fairbanks Youth Sports Season Opener, Saturday, November 21, at 11:00am on the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area.  The races start and finish in the Birch Hill Ski Stadium.  The KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series provides a competitive forum for skiers of all ages beginning with pre-schoolers.

Davya Flaharty and Riley Troyer were the fastest of the high school and adult skiers over 4.25Km and 8.5Km respectively in the Woolly Rhino Classic, the penultimate event of the 19th Annual KINROSS Fort Knox Town Race Series.
